The prophets in the Hebrew scriptures and the Rabbi Jesus, in whom we find our inspiration for ministry recognized the need for God's people to lament, to weep, to heal and then to find joy in the morning. At Middle Church we believe it is important to hold people while they weep, to comfort people while they mourn, to care for people in transition and to celebrate with people as they rejoice. We are called to bear one another's burdens, which makes them lighter.

Our clergy are trained in pastoral counseling. Our Senior Minister has a Ph.D. in psychology and religion. Our Minister of Care and Community has a degree in mental health counseling.

We also have a team of lay leaders who provide support in various ways—a loving hand to hold when you are sick, cards and care sent to your door when you need it, and small groups in which to find community.

To connect, write a confidential email to, or call our office and ask to speak with one of our trained professionals.
