Middle Church is a teaching congregation in which adult education and activities are geared not only to nurture the mind, body, and spirit, but to equip us for justice-seeking and reconciliation. We value spending time with one another and are blessed every time we come together.

Ongoing Classes and Groups

Creative Writing
Thursdays at 6:30 PM
Participants meet weekly in a supportive, creative, and fun environment where ideas move onto paper. Build connections as you express the writer that lives in each of us. Led by Middle member, Harold Slazer.

Money Talks
Monthly Third Sundays at 1:15 PM
Business professionals meet to discuss faith, ethics, and the corporate workplace. Members of the network support each other in their careers and spiritual journeys, and offer their professional skills in service to the community.

Young Adults

Young Adults (ages 20–40) participate in our ministry in a diversity of ways. They take part in The Middle Project's Leadership Initiative for Young Adults, attend a monthly Pub Theology at a local pub on the third Tuesday of every month, and are active in our social justice ministries. Please contact Christina Fleming, cfleming@middlechurch.org for more information.

Reading the Bible from the Middle
Weekly Sundays at 1:15 PM
Every week, participants gather for a sermon talk-back to discuss that week's sermon and themes along with insights and inspirations from the music. Email Marte Samuelstuen at msamuelstuen@middlechurch.org for more information.

Praying Dangerously
First Sundays at 1:15 PM
Participants gather to read and talk about Regina Sara Ryan’s poem, "Praying Dangerously," from her book of the same name. This poem invites readers to let go of their stereotypes about prayer and approach this spiritual practice with authenticity. As part of the experience, individuals will have the opportunity to pray for one another and to be prayed over with partners. Led by Christina Fleming and Jennifer Wright Cook.

Erasing Racism
First Sundays at 1:15 PM
Middle's positive multiracial community gathers to go deeper and get real about erasing racism. This group meets monthly to use art and literature to spark this conversation. Led by Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis.

Moms in the Middle
Third Sundays at 1:15 PM
This group gathers to deepen connection and grow spiritually by focusing on the parenting journey and its intersection with faith. How has motherhood deepened your faith? How has it challenged it? Spend 90 minutes a month with other mothers sharing your story, making connections, and growing in faith. Led by Lynn Min.

Middle Out Loud (on hiatus)
Middle Out Loud is a team of people in ministry with and to the LGBTQ community of Middle Church and beyond. Our ethical imperative is to provide healing and support as we work together for justice and equality.

The Encore: A Sermonic Reverb (on hiatus)
A 30-minute sermon talk back will follow each weekly Art & Soul evening worship celebration, creating space to explore and discuss questions and insights from the sermon and music.

Pub Theology
Monthly Wednesdays at 7:00 PM
Martin Luther once said, "God is at work, even when we are drinking beer." We will gather to enjoy good drinks and good conversation about God, life, and everything in between. Email Marte Samuelstuen at msamuelstuen@middlechurch.org for more information.
